A TRUE HONOR FOR BALINESE CULTURE
The closing of Nikko Bali Resort and Spa's Cultural Appreciation Nights 2010

Nusa Dua - August 2010 Bali is My Life - a simple phrase that literally means the world to anyone who have lived, experienced and loved Bali like the associates of Nikko Bali Resort and Spa. A way for the resort to appreciate the island's many gifts was to hold the Cultural Appreciation Nights throughout the month of August.
This was the 5th year for Nikko Bali Resort and Spa to organize an event that's truly dedicated to Bali through its arts, especially the dances. Started as one of the program of the resort's 10th anniversary in 2006, the event now has grown into something bigger; showcasing the best performance artists in Bali, from the maestro dancers to the future generations of dancers.
On Friday, August 27th, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa had the honor of welcoming the Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika and wife along with some media for the closing ceremony of the event at Serenity Beach. During his speech, the Governor hoped that this kind of event will continue on and he encouraged the people closely related to tourism to further promote the beauty of the island, as well as Indonesia. The closing performance was the Mystical Mask Dance which featured the story of different characters based on the mask worn by the dancer. With each movement, the dancer brought 'life' into the mask, making the dance a magical sight to behold for the guests.
A token of gratitude for the government's support was then presented to the Governor by the General Manager of the resort, Jean-Charles Le Coz as the highlight of the closing ceremony.
This activity is but one in a series of cultural events done by the resort in 2010: the weekly Kampoeng Bali - a dedication to the Balinese life, regular dance performances and the recent support done by the resort to the Bali is My Life program that was re-launched back in June by Bali Hotels Association.

A CLEANER ENVIRONMENT, A HEALTHIER COMMUNITY
Nikko Bali Resort and Spa welcomes Independence Day with a cleaning campaign with the local community

August 2010 - Nusa Dua, There is a saying in Indonesia that goes "Bersih Pangkal Sehat" which literally translates to clean is healthy. It is undeniably true that cleanliness determines the health level of a person, community, place, even the whole town.
Together with the students of SDN 2 Benoa, Sawangan, R.O.L.E foundation and the local community, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa held a cleaning blitz around the streets going to the resort and the surrounding area, on August 13, 2010. This activity was also to anticipate the 65th celebration of Indonesia's Independence. More than a 100 people were ready with their brooms, tongs and trash bags, picking up all the rubbish they could find along the streets and surrounding areas. Bags and bags of plastics, cans, papers and dead leaves were gathered before the participants were treated to a morning coffee break by the gardens of the resort.
This campaign is a continuous program done by Nikko Bali Resort and Spa to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment, from the streets down to the beach of the resort, a simple act for a greener environment, a STEP UP for Nikko Bali Resort and Spa and for the Island of the Gods. |

THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, A BUSINESS IN PARADISE
The unusual marriage of two opposite worlds, business and pleasure, a successful story by Nikko Bali Resort and Spa

August 2010 - Nusa Dua. The terms "mixing business with pleasure" may often cause a professional to frown and be considered somewhat taboo in the "workplace". But what if these two very opposite words could go hand in hand in the professional world? Not in the terms of entertainment industry but as in serious, focused events such as a meeting, a conference, as in the world of MICE. That is what the island of Bali has to offer for your association or company.
A harmonious blend
Bali is on most people's list of places to visit. The Island of the Gods is adorned with nature's beauty, surrounded by long sandy beaches and magnificent views. The island is a harmonious blend of tradition, culture, art and religion. This year, Bali was voted fourth-best top ten favorite islands in Asia by reader's choice in Travel+Leisure South East Asia and also featured in the latest Julia Robert's movie "Eat, Pray, Love" based on the bestselling book with the same title. Being on the list of top holiday destinations, Bali now also has taken its place in the world as a MICE destination. Many international events, exhibitions and conferences have been held here in the last couple of years; for example the United Nations Climate Change Conference held last year in Nusa Dua.
A southern charm
On the southern tip of the island, lies Nusa Dua, the enclave for 5-star international resorts. Sitting atop a 40-metre cliff, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa, invites you to a world of personal hospitality, with traditional Balinese warmth, combined with attentive and refined service. For this 389 room resort, marrying both worlds of business and pleasure is no longer an unusual thing to do as it has been the mission of its MICE department all these years.
Under the supervision of Ketut Gita, Director of Banquet Sales and Operations, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa can customize any MICE needs and take it another STEP UP to make it feel less business like and more as a "bliss-ness" - while still maintaining the level of seriousness of the whole event. "Options" said Ketut Gita when asked about what the resort has to offer, "We wish to give our clients more options, a fully customized event that can fit their needs. This allows us to personalize everything to the very last details". From giving options to their clients to offering alternative venues, activities, set ups, decorations even a personalized private dinner, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa can fully customize your needs.
Rave reviews
Recently, Nikko Bali Resort and Spa hosted two major events at their ballroom, Graha Sawangan, and received rave comments from both clients. They managed to extend the hospitality, that is uniquely Bali, the beautiful scenery, laid back atmosphere and traditional culture of the island to each client and 'introduce' them to a new level of MICE, the successful marriage of both worlds.
"Nikko Bali Resort and Spa really took care of us and gave us their full attention" said John O'Brien, Vice President Asia Pacific of FrontRange Solutions Asia Pacific Pty Ltd. "We have had unequivocal feedback about the way the hotel and the staff conducted themselves and how helpful everyone was".
Meanwhile, Joanne Heng of IBM Asia Pacific commented "It has been a pleasant experience for everyone and the credit is due to the efficiency demonstrated by your team. We look forward to organizing future corporate events with your hotel".
"These rave reviews have set the bar for us", said Ketut Gita, "any events held at the resort will be at least at the same level of service and products".
So, MICE can be fun and holiday-ish after all and here's to the person that said "you cannot mix business with pleasure", Nikko Bali Resort and Spa has proven you wrong and challenge you to experience this beautiful harmony at the Island of the Gods.
